Incorporated in 1995, is a joint venture company of Engro Corporation Limited, and Vopak Asia Pacific Ltd., a subsidiary of Royal Vopak of the Netherlands. EVTL provides its customers especially the chemical/petrochemical industry and traders, with first class facilities to handle and store their bulk raw material and products in a safe, efficient and environment friendly manner. The Terminal has ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 (environmental) certifications Safety, Health and Environment Policy Engro Vopak Terminal Limited, is committed to manage its operations and utilize its resources to continually protect the environment, the safety & health of employees, customers, contractors, interested parties and the community in its business of storage and handling of bulk liquid and gaseous products. We aim at zero incident. Every employee contributes to the prevention of incidents by identifying, analyzing and controlling safety, health and environmental hazards.
The company offers the chemical and oil industries a worldwide network of 67 terminals with a total storage capacity of 19.4 million cubic meters. The facility is located on the Indus delta at Port Qasim, near Karachi at a deep water approach channel approximately 40 km from the open sea. The tank farm is situated on reclaimed land in the Port Qasim harbor area. The tank farm is on a 100 acre site adjacent to the jetty. Design of the facility complies fully with all relevant local and international standards and requirements. Main features of the facility are outlined below:
The company owns and operates a jetty designed to handle ships up to 75,000 dwt At present however, the Port Qasim channel depth allows ships up to approximately 45,000 dwt to reach terminal facilities. Off-loading of liquid products from vessels is carried out through dedicated marine loading arms or hoses and is transferred via pipelines from the jetty to the storage tank area. Currently there are nineteen (19) storage tanks of both stainless steel and carbon steel having total capacity of 65,000 cu. m.
The company aims to maintain the world's highest industry standards to ensure safety and reliability. EVTL's safety standard system includes gas detection systems, automatic deluge systems, 14" firewater line with hydrants at regular intervals including 750 m3/hour backup pumps, ample firewater monitors with foam injection, firetruck, portable fire fighting equipment, etc. EVTL staff is provided training and networking with Vopak and ENGRO to develop technical know how/ expertise. Various training courses are also conducted on a regular basis at the EVTL Terminal.
Further Expansion Activities EVTL is committed to playing a leading role in the development of standards in the terminal services business in Pakistan. By setting up quality facilities for providing safe and efficient storage and handling services, the company expects to set a benchmark in such services in the country. EVTL currently handles 60% of Pakistan's chemical imports. The company is actively pursuing opportunities to expand and diversify its terminal services. Plans are underway to attract other chemical importers and exporters to EVTL. |
